CALENDAR Troop 55 Minutes – 5/5/08

Joe Morrison called the meeting to order.

Invocation

Ms. Abston announced that Court of Honor will be held next Monday night – May 12 - at 6:30 – If your last name begins with A thru M – please bring both a main dish and a vegetable - N thru Z – please bring both a main dish and a dessert. Class A uniforms required. Mothers – don’t forget your pins.

OA (Order of the Arrow) elections will be held next Monday night. This is an honorary organization for scouts. The program was designed to honor outstanding scouts.

Parents – if you have not done the Chickasaw Youth Protection Training and the Safe Swim, please go online at Chickasawbsa.com. We need this in preparation for the fall camping event. We need more adults with Safe Swim Certification.

Ms. Mercer announced advancements.
Stuart Hart announced his Eagle Project for next Saturday- May 10 (tentative date depending on weather) at 10:00 (meet at the church.) He will be planting food plants native to Tennessee that attract wildlife. Transportation will be provided from the church. Let Stuart know if you plant to attend - he will call you and let you know if the event is taking place due to weather.

Mr. Hart discussed the following:
  • BSA Safe Swim and Youth Protection – this does not take long – 5 to 10 minutes – all parents of scouts need to do this. This is required for the troop to be able to go to Horseshoe for the fall campout.
  • Court of Honor – next week at 6:30.
  • Troop 55 was voted a Quality Unit by the BSA – the highest honor awarded a troop.

    Physicals for Kia Kima were given by Dr. Bedford and Dr. Azar. Every Scout planning to attend Kia Kima has to turn in a medical form to Mr. Hart prior to leaving for camp – no exceptions will be made.

    Tonight is the last regular Monday night meeting for the year.

    Parent Needed - June 8 – Kia Kima – we must have one more adult willing to stay at Kia Kima camp from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning (bring scouts home). Please contact George Hart or reply to this email if you can help.
